A Little Hope for Hope

Hope Solo It seems as if winning the Gold medal at the summer olympics this year in London has been the only positive thing in Hope Solo’s life recently. The goalie for the U.S. women’s soccer team had plans to marry her boyfriend, Seattle Seahawks player, Jeremy Stevens, on Tuesday, but their plans changed. Instead Stevens spent the day in jail after he was arrested on investigation of Assault 4th Degree Domestic Violence in Kirkland, Wash.

In statement made to hollywood.com, police were called at 3:45 a.m. November 12 to a disturbance call. There was an altercation between some people during a party happening inside the home, as well as use of a shot gun. When police arrived to the scene, they found a 31-year-old female, 32-year-old female and 34-year-old male all suffering physical injuring.

The 31-year-old female was identified as Solo.

Solo also made headlines this past summer when she accused her Dancing With the Stars partner, Makism Chmerkovskiy, of physically abusing her during their practices. In Solo’s autobiography, Solo: A Story Of Hope, she talks about he “manhandled” her by “pushing, whacking her stomach, and bending her arms roughly.” However, there has been controversy over whether or not that was true. Chmerkovskiy of course denied the situation and was truly upset when he found out she was saying this about him.

And then we can’t forget what happened to Solo before the Solo games. The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency spoke out to Hope warning her she tested positive for a banned substance. This turned out to be a misconception. Solo replied saying she was “prescribed a certain medication for premenstrual purposes.” She worked with the USADA to make sure they knew she made an honest mistake and that the drug in no way “enhanced her performance” at the Olympics.

But back to Solo’s current situation with her violent boyfriend. Steven’s was released and no charges have been filed – yet. The investigation has been forwarded to Kirkland’s Family Violence Unit Detective for further investigation.

Hopefullythere is some hope for Hope and the negative spotlight will avoid her from now on!
